SoLo Powered Elite Athlete Paul Tichelaar is currently ranked 7th in the World by the International Triathlon Union.
"The Olympics was the ultimate experience; an end to 15 years of dreaming and training. I had a lot of help along the way with my progress. Nutritionally, SoLo has aided my extended endurance on the bike and throughout my training sessions. I don't have to worry about refueling if I start my workout with a SoLo bar. On the bike and in my recovery period, SoLo is my first choice for fuel. This June, Paul raced against the best in the world, achieving a top 10 finish and a spot on the Canadian Olympic Triathlon Team."
This June, Paul raced against the best in the world, achieving a top 10 finish and a spot on the Canadian Olympic Triathlon Team.
His relentless commitment to training and racing this year has earned him 4 top 10 finishes and his showing at the World’s secures his place alongside the best athletes in the sport of triathlon.
SoLo’s long-term and sustained energy provided Paul with the necessary fuel late in the race to be able to finish strong and secure his Olympic team position.
SoLo Powered Triathlete Paul Tichelaar is realizing his dream of representing his country at the Olympics. Like so many young athletes, he had dreamt of making the Olympic team since he was a young competitive swimmer, but like so very few, his dreams are becoming reality. The World Championships were one of the last chances for Paul to make the Olympics after some frustrating races last year and a setback with an ankle sprain.
This year was different as Paul put his career as an engineer on hold and dedicated himself 100% to training and competing in the competitive world of triathlon. SoLo’s high performance nutrition has played a prominent role in his success by providing sustained energy during the many long and grueling training sessions and races. This has built a confidence in Paul that the best is yet to come.
Paul will now gear up for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where nutrition will play an important role, as sufficient fuel will be necessary for the rigorous training sessions and workouts leading up to the big event. SoLo’s high performance nutrition will continue to provide Paul with the steady and consistent energy required to help get his team to the podium. Canada is a powerhouse in the sport of triathlon and is one of the toughest teams to make in the world. Led by 2000 Sydney Olympics Gold Medalist Simon Whitfield, the Canadian team looks destined for a metal, with Paul Tichelaar only heightening the odds of bringing home a victory.
Congratulations Paul, from your SoLo Powered support team!
“The Olympics is the largest stage of competition. The world’s best will battle for gold after dedicating years of their lives to compete in one race. The triathlon involves a swim, bike, and a run; and if you lose touch with the lead pack in any of these stages you are out of the race. Nutrition is vital to success. For me, the road to the Olympics has involved long bike rides, endless laps in the pool, and runs that have left me shaking. Through all of this, nutrition is vital to my success and I am assisted by SoLo energy bars. During the race and especially through the run I need food that agrees and sits well with my stomach. SoLo is the only bar that I have found with no sugar alcohols, allowing me to digest easily and feel great as I drive for the finish line – with gold on my mind!”
“In the sport of triathlon it is vital to have sustained energy throughout the race. Triathlon racing is all about working at a level of near exhaustion and holding it for just under two hours of competition. SoLo bars have allowed me to find the necessary fuel at the end of races to give me a boost on the run. As an athlete dreaming of the Olympics in an Olympic year, there are no second chances. I need to know that I will be able to perform when needed; eating SoLo bars gives me that confidence and energy late in a race. Thanks SoLo.”
