Message from the CEO
 Welcome
to a "new era" in nutrition. A decade ago I had a vision of a future
where foods play a more fundamental role in health, performance
and disease prevention. At the time, scientists were evidencing
benefits isolated from food and plants that support the body beyond
conventional nutrition.
Working with the University of Alberta Hospitals and the National
Research Council of Canada, we believed there was a need to develop
food products that combine benefits from emerging nutritional and
nutraceutical research, to address daily needs and longer term health
issues.
To achieve these multidimensional objectives we assembled a multidisciplinary
team of experts. Over the years our scientists have developed proprietary
technology to develop nutritionally designed and nutraceutically
enhanced products that are delicious and shelf stable.
As needs and preferences change through the life cycle, our scientists
also developed a more effective approach to generic food products,
by formulating foods on an age, gender and need segmented basis.
This technology enables us the flexibility to develop a wide variety
of products ranging from nutritionally formulated children's snacks
to nutraceutically enhanced products for diabetics.
I am excited about the future. The functional food evolution is
upon us, and working together with our clients and the New Era team,
my vision is becoming a reality.
